Fundación LAB launches the campaign “Esto es así” to raise awareness of the need to digitize companies and prepare them technologically

Valencia, 28 June 2024 – Fundación LAB has launched the digital campaign Esto es así“, aimed at CEOs and technical directors (DirTec) of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Valencian Community. The main objective of this initiative is to raise awareness of the urgent need to accelerate digitalization and to adopt new technologies in companies, facing the considerable technological deficit that places them at a competitive disadvantage at national and European level. To do so it uses  a series of audiovisuals to present four basic concepts in a simple and direct way. The idea is to show companies that small technological advances, while seemingly complicated at first, are actually very simple and can boost their business. The series is available in www.estoesasi.es

According to the report promoted by Fundación LAB, “Technology as an engine of growth” prepared by Ivie, the Valencian Community is lagging behind other Spanish and European regions in investment in technology and R&D. While Madrid invests 3.9% and Catalonia, 2.6%, the Valencian Community barely reaches 2%, below the national average of 2.5%. In terms of investment in R&D, the United States leads with 3.5%, followed by Germany with 2.9%, while Spain averages 1.6% and the Valencian Community, only 1.5%. Moreover, training in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for employees is significantly lower in the Valencian Community, with 18.6%, compared to 21.7% in Spain and 22.4% in the European Union.

These data underscore the urgency of taking action to prevent SMEs from being left behind in a digitally advanced and competitive environment. The lack of investment in technology and innovation, together with the lack of ICT training of their employees, leaves Valencian companies in a vulnerable position.

Mentoring day in Alicante: LAB Foundation solution

To address this problem, Fundación LAB will once again hold a mentoring day in Alicante in October. During this event, companies from the foundation’s board of trustees will share success stories and provide the necessary keys for Valencian SMEs to advance in their digital transformation. The goal is to equip business leaders with essential tools and knowledge to implement effective digitalization strategies.

In this respect, Fundación LAB emphasizes that investment in technology is crucial to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation capacity of Valencian SMEs. It is essential that SMEs abandon mere survival policies and adopt a genuine digital transformation strategy.
