REPORT: TECHNOLOGY AS AN ENGINE FOR GROWTH
Fundación LAB Mediterráneo has presented a new report entitled “Technology as an engine for growth”, included in the research program it is developing together with the Ivie and whose objective is to promote the knowledge economy in the Valencian Community.
The presentation of the report was attended by the president of the foundation, Héctor Dominguis, who stated that “one of the areas of action of the foundation is the generation of knowledge that we carry out with a dual objective: on the one hand, to know the initial situation, always analyzing what and how the leaders do it and, on the other, to try to put forward proposals, paths and good practices that are useful to society as a whole”.
This is the third of the reports published after those that analyzed the situation of R&D and innovation in our Region. It analyzes the role of technology as a basis for economic and social progress and compares the situation of the Valencian Region with the most developed countries in Europe and the leading regions of Spain: the Community of Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
The document studies five fundamental aspects related to technological progress and which contribute to growth: ICT and R&D investment and capital; the importance of productive specialization according to the relationship with ICT; the contribution of productive factors to growth and the distinction by sectors according to their digitisation; the importance of intangible assets; and the characteristics of human capital
