Sustainable technologies are those that seek not to compromise natural resources in the future. Some examples are technologies that use biofuel, solar energy, wind or recycling, among others.
On the other hand, technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data or 5G applied to resource management are also a good ally for the implementation of sustainable projects. Below, we look at some sustainable digital initiatives that have been launched.
1. Cloud Computing
Cloud computing, also known as “the cloud,” refers to a technology that enables unlimited data storage. This innovative solution presents a greener approach by eliminating the need for physical storage devices. By moving information from a physical environment to cloud services, you could experience a significant 84% reduction in carbon emissions to the environment. In addition, this data storage system offers greater security and provides the opportunity to work remotely.
2. Artificial intelligence
Spain ranks fourteenth in the adoption of AI, matching the European average. Their ability to analyse and process information leads to significant savings in terms of devices, resources, and materials. In addition, the ability of AI to learn through interactions contributes to a notable increase in productivity levels, which is why it is considered a sustainable technology.

5G networks offer a number of notable benefits, including the ability to improve connection speed, expand bandwidth, and strengthen security. However, one of the most outstanding characteristics of this sustainable technology is its ability to reduce energy consumption. It is estimated that 5G not only reduces the energy consumption of devices, but also contributes to longer battery life, thus extending their lifespan.
4. Batteries for electrical consumption
Currently, batteries intended for energy storage face the challenge of being expensive or sizable.
